Top 3 things to splurge on before vacation

Top 3 things to splurge on before vacation

I just got back from a trip to Hawaii with my family, so I'm apologizing in advance for the number of vacation themed posts;) These pics were at Mama's Fish House in Maui. If you get the chance, I highly recommend going there. They catch their fish daily and are simply amazing. Be sure to make a reservation, because they book up quick! Also, isn't this dress the prettiest? I saw it the Thursday before I went on vacation and didn't buy it. I had immediate regret, so my bf took me to all of the Nordstroms in Dallas trying to find it. Nothing haunts us more than the things we didn't buy, right? Turns out every other girl had snatched it up because they thought it was cute, especially for being under $50! Finally at Nordstrom Galleria, a lady named Meredith thought to check other Texas stores and suggested that we try to ship it from Austin. I shipped it to my work, since it's right by the UPS hub. By God's grace, I received it Tuesday afternoon. Talk about by the skin of my teeth! That's pretty fantastic for ordering on a Saturday, shipping on a Monday, receiving on a Tuesday, and leaving Texas at 7 am Wednesday! It was just meant to be!

Anyway, I am mostly type A, so when we booked this trip back in January, I immediately began thinking of things I needed to accomplish prior to leaving. While there are a lot of things to do and plan for before getting the heck outta dodge, here are my top 3 things that you might forget to splurge on and wish you had!

1) Eyelash Extensions I had my first set of eyelash extension done mid May, and let me tell you...they are WONDERFUL! If you don't follow me on Instagram, see my first post about them here! I went to the Amazing Lash Studio in Las Colinas because it is near my work, but they have several locations. See if there is one near you, here. If you have ever considered getting them, you should try out the Amazing Lash Studio! You can get your first set for only $75 and join their membership if you want to continue getting them at a low price. You can also get referrals, so if you go and tell them the I sent you, then I would get $10 off my next service, then you could tell your friends, and you would start racking up credits as well! I highly recommend these before any vacation, but especially a beach vacation. Once I got mine, I really didn't put on any eye makeup, only a sweep of powder and blush and I was out the door- even when I went to work! It is a timesaver during normal, everyday life, but a serious blessing when at the beach! No mascara streaks after a long day at the ocean, and 0% effort to look cute! You seriously don't know what you've been missing until you try them!

2) Self Tanner You're probably thinking that I'm crazy for saying this, because I'm the palest girl on the planet, but hear me out. About a month ago I tried NKD SKN by Vita Liberata and it is amazing! I have no problem with my china doll skin, but sometimes I just want a glow. I had pretty much given up, until I tried this product! Again, if you don't follow me on Instagram (you are obviously missing out;) ), here is the in-store before and after with the product. As you can see, it looks completely natural. It was created by the Irish (who know a thing or two about light skin), so they made sure it wouldn't make you look like an oompa loompa. Not only does it have great color, but it is organic and made with all natural products. It also fades naturally, so it doesn't streak. I used the medium mousse the night before I left for Hawaii and headed to the beach already bronze! My sister has more of an olive complexion and she was totally jealous that I looked more tan than her. I recommend it before any vacation because it doesn't break the bank and you can bring it with you to do touch ups. It lasts 5-7 days, so as it naturally faded, it also revealed the bit of golden glimmer on my skin that I received from time soaking up the sun.

3) Mani/Pedi I always have my nails done and feel naked if I don't. I paint my nails about once a week, but when I am heading on vacation, I consider giving my nails a little extra strength. If I am painting them myself, I use the Julep Oxygen Base Coat, which helps them not chip. This is actually what I used prior heading to Hawaii, and even with sunscreen, sand, and salt, they held up great! (would y'all be interested in my nail routine? I often get asked if my nails are gel, even though they are not and I do them myself!) Other options are jamberry and gel nails. Even though gel is better for your nails than acrylics, it still isn't great. If you want to go the gel route, I would recommend a place that uses Bio Seaweed Gel. It is vegan, chemical free, and actually healthy for your nails! The only place in Dallas that I have been able to find that uses is MiniLuxe in West Village.

What are your splurges before vacation? I'd love to hear!
